There is currently a building boom of weekend cottages, and a new generation is discovering the amazing fishing, hunting and hiking opportunities in this paradise. How to get here

There are different ways of getting to South Lapland. In the wintertime, the easiest way to get here is by air or road. You can take a direct flight from Stockholm and land less than two hours later at South Lapland Airport, in the middle of the wilderness. From there you can hop right on a snowmobile and leave civilization behind. By road, if you are not coming by car, you can sleep all through the journey north on the nightbus Lapplandspilen. Off trail snowmobiling in Frostviksfjällen

Frostviken is the name of the mythical northern part of Strömsund's Municipality, and was a municipality itself until 1973. The area has approximately 900 inhabitants, with 350 living in the village of Gäddede.

The villages Jormvattnet and Stora Blåsjön are often referred to as the 'Mekka' of off trail snowmobiling, being well-renowned for their long seasons.

Highest peak: Sielkentjakke, 1314 metres above sea level
Deepest lake: Stora Blåsjön, 144 metres
